Firewood > Wood Pellets
Wood pellets are composed of mainly sawdust, woodchips and other timber-related waste products, compressed to form small and compact pellets. They are incredibly effective at producing heat as they contain very little moisture due to the production process and therefore burn with very little ash remaining. It is not advisable to burn wood pellets in an open fire or woodburning stove, due to the incredibly high burning temperatures and uneven burning rate, resulting in damage to your chimney or appliance. Wood pellets are incredibly effective when used in biomass or pellet stoves as these appliances are specifically designed to handle this increased heat. They are an incredibly efficient and cost-effective heat source when used and burnt responsibly.
